1. With posts prior to 5th February, 2013 it is possible to see better quality enlarged images by clicking on the image. When finished, just click outside the enlarged image to return to the blog post.
With posts from 5th February, 2013 there is no advantage in doing this as the images are to the same size and definition.

Clover - 1995-2012

Clover - 1995-2012
Today we had to say goodbye to our much-loved cat, Clover (affectionately known as Crowie). She'd been with us for all but 17 years from when we collected her from the Cat's Protection League as a very young kitten. Since then she has been a most wonderful companion. Just over a month ago she had a fit, and the vet warned us that she almost certainly had a brain tumour, and this would be terminal. We took the decision that, at her time of life, we didn't want to subject her to too much trauma, and so we just monitored her condition as best we could, ensuring that her quality of life was the greatest consideration. Today she went into a fit that she did not come out of, and we were advised that her time had come. My wife and I are both desperately missing her already. We take some consolation in still having her brother (from the same litter - although you wouldn't know it) with us, but he is showing signs of missing her too.

Please excuse me posting this on my blog. I know that it has nothing to do with the blog's title, but I consider my blog a bit like a personal diary and, therefore, I do not feel that it would be true to her memory if, on these pages, I ignored her passing.

God bless you Crowie, and thank you for all you've given us over the past seventeen years. .

    1. Thank you Sue and John for your kind words of sympathy. I remember well when you lost your Beau. I was very sad for you then, and I remember he was of a similar colouring to my Crowie - virtually an English Blue. Such lovely natures.

  3. So sorry for your loss Richard - Clover was such a handsome cat. Eighteen years of wonderful companionship. We have two ourselves, Mojoe and Queball, rescued from a Mink farm 13 years ago. I will miss mine terribly when the time comes.

    1. Thank you Christian. I hope that your two give you as much pleasure as ours, and that they're with you for many years to come.

  4. I am truly sorry, I made a joke before reading what your had written.
    I feel so bad.
I also lost the exact same cat in Africa, in terrible circumstances.
I know the pain you must feel.
Maybe you will consider getting another kitten soon...
    Kind regards, Richard

    1. Hi Noushka - an understandable mistake. Thank you for your kind words. We won't be getting another kitten as the chances are, at our age, that it would outlast us and it would be unfair for it to be 'left behind'.

I'm pleased to report that the anonymous spam problem seems to be solvable without using word verification. I'm now just using the 'Registered Users - includes OpenID' option in Blogger settings, and I'm not getting any spam - touch wood! I've also not received any contact from people saying that they are no longer able to make comments.
