Barn Owl - on 13th May, 2010

It was a bright sunny morning, and so I decided to visit some of my Little Owl sites that I have not visited for a while. I got a bit carried away at the first site, as my owls had not been seen for some weeks. The nest tree is visible from the farmhouse kitchen but the farmer was not aware that the owls were there until I pointed it out. Since then he has kept his eyes open and had several sightings, including one on the telegraph pole outside the kitchen window, but nothing recently. This prompted me to try and find where they might have relocated to. I never found the Little Owls, but after exploring for half an hour or so, I came across this fella, sunning himself! The encounter was extremely brief - as soon as soon as our eyes met, he was off - just three frames taken. I must now try and return when he is not sitting in his window, and set up my hide in the hope of getting some less fuzzy images, with better composition, when he emerges.

Is the escape route clear?

I'm off!
