I went to Catton Hall, East Staffordshire, as I had passed by a few times and thought that it looked a splendid place for Little Owls (although I was concerned that they shoot here too). I didn't see any owls (maybe it was a bit cold and windy). However, although I have mixed feelings about pheasants, the cock pheasants are looking particularly fine at the moment - although I did not realise how scruffy they look when they spread their wings till I snapped one by accident!

A pair of Great Spotted Woodpecker were messing about in some trees fairly near to the road, although too far away for my lens to make much of.
